ASSESSMENT IS KEY

If there is no hope for your lawn, then perhaps it’s time for a complete refresh. Lawn Doc’s renovation service includes a series of processes to ensure the healthy growth of your lawn. From Hollow tine Aeration, deep scarification it at least 2 directions, topdressing and sowing grass seed right for your lawn and situation to repairing lawns with notable damage due to drought, shade or wear.

Our renovations are carried out depending on the scale of damage and aren’t usually put into action until 20-25% of the lawn is bare or covered with weeds.

NOTICING THE SIGNS IS KEY

Pesky pests can have a dramatic effect on your lawn as insects and grubs eat away the roots of your grass. This is simple to spot as you’ll notice dead, yellow patches of grass which is deteriorated. An excessive amount of pests in one area can blemish your lawn which will look out of place and unkept compared to the rest of your healthy lawn. Whilst there are solutions available of the high street, Lawn Doc ensure to get to the root of the problem and eliminate the pests causing disruption. The main culprits are ants, Leather jackets and chafer grubs.

THE SCIENCE OF Aeration

The process of pulling air into grass, aeration helps circulation by breaking up the surface of your lawn to allow water, oxygen and nutrients to enter the roots with ease. It also stops your lawn becoming compact following heavy footing and heavy objects placed on top. Lawn care in general can be a difficult task without professional help. Some processes, such as aeration, are based on science and require specialist knowledge and time to complete. That’s where Lawn Doc comes in.

Our highly specialised aeration process will be carried out for your lawn’s needs. One aeration process called tinning removes the plug of grass and soil which will allow your lawn to breath and become far less compact. The end result we see a much healthier appearance and better root management. If the lawn isn’t heavily compacted we can also carry out solid or “Pencil tinning” this is less invasive than the hollow tinning but will relieve compaction and encourage root growth.

For a luscious lawn

Scarifying is a process that removes excess material and lets your lawn breath. Its benefits are plentiful as it also helps to reduce moss and other diseases which can damage your lawn and prevent further growth. The main reasons to scarify your lawn is due to something called Thatch. It’s a build-up of living and dead grass that intertwines to build a layer between grass and soil.

Lawn Doc manually removes Thatch by machine or rake to promote growth, the other reason is grass not only grows upwards but sideways and so scarification cuts this out and encourages upward growth this process is also called verti-cutting which vertically cuts the grass to encourage upwards growth and a luscious lawn.

NO LAWN IS IMMUNE

The inevitable but always unwanted weeds. The dread of many homeowners and a chore that never seems to end. Unfortunately even the most well-kept lawns can’t fight off weeds forever. Plus if they are left untreated they can permanently harm your garden. So damage control is key. Their survival in all conditions and season make weeds appear supernatural, but Lawn Doc have the expertise and knowledge to keep your garden healthy and weed free.

As much as we feed ourselves with vitamins and nutrition’s to stay healthy, we need to do the same for our lawns to ensure they’re green, luscious and well cared for. One ingredient to do just that is lawn fertiliser. This replenishes your grass with all the feel-good factors to maximise grass growth which can help eliminate unwanted weeds.

Lawn Doc can select a fertiliser bespoke to your lawn to best suit its needs and start the process from mid-spring to make sure it’s looking its best all the way through to autumn. This will be a slow release compound which works for 8 to 10 weeks so is timed perfectly with our next visit.
